HONG KONG ASSOCIATION OF OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH NURSES
    WELCOME PAGE

    President’s Message or Welcome Message

Occupational health was a fresh topic to me when I was studying in Australia in the 90’s. After I returned to Hong Kong and joint the Hospital Authority, occupational health and its related issues were not a frequently discussed subject at that time, occupational health nursing was not familiar to the nursing professionals especially within the health care settings.

During the term as a conveyor for the hospital Occupational Safety and Health Committee since the enactment of the Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance in Hong Kong in 1997, I am glad to see that quite a number of nurses were engaged in occupational health nursing care in their day-to-day activities, such as Injury on Duty investigation and prevention, injured workers management, health education and training,, staff wellness programme, counseling and crisis intervention, health promotion and risk reduction, workers and workplace hazard inspection. Nurse is becoming the indispensable person in promoting work health and well being.

After many years of hard work, it is time to make a tribute to the nurses practising the occupational health nursing care. We are pleased to announce that the Hong Kong Association of Occupational Health Nurses has been established on 22 January 2010.

The Association will definitely advance and maximise the professional practice and knowledge of the occupational health nurses by providing education, research and practice resources for them. This will also benefit enhancing the occupational safety and health of the working population.

We trust that you will find the education and practice resources of the Association both intellectually stimulating and socially rewarding. Your support and contribution enable the work of the Association to be meaningful and significant.

We look forward to seeing you in our activities and educational programmes!
